What Grok Imagine is
xAI is the company that makes the Grok chatbot. Besides the text model, it has generative models for images and video under the common name Grok Imagine.
KADR has two of them:
- Grok Imagine Video for short clips.
- Grok Imagine Image for pictures.
The KADR description of the video model sums up its character briefly: fast creative clips, 720p, many aspect ratios. That is exactly its niche.
Grok Imagine Video
The key fact: it is one of the most affordable video models in the KADR catalog. Only some models at reduced resolution are cheaper, for example Seedance 1.5 Pro at 480p (19 tokens) or Veo 3.1 Lite at 720p (33 tokens). But at its maximum quality Grok is cheaper than any other video model at its maximum quality.

Limitation: 720p only. The model does not go higher, so you cannot choose 1080p.
Many aspect ratios. Handy when you need one clip in different formats: vertical for stories, square for the feed, horizontal for a preview. As always, the format is set before generation, not by cropping.
Good for:
- Drafts. Test an idea, composition and motion for 77 rubles before paying for a flagship.
- Stories and clips. On a phone 720p is often enough.
- Creative work and experiments. Try many ideas quickly.
- Volume content for social media, where consistency of posting matters more than maximum quality.

In price it sits next to Flux.2 Pro and the basic Nano Banana, that is, in the most budget segment. It suits covers, backgrounds, illustrations and quick experiments.
If you need photorealism, compare it with Flux. If you need to edit an existing photo, that is a job for Nano Banana Pro.
How Grok fits into a workflow
The most sensible use of Grok Imagine Video is as the first stage:
- Work out the idea and camera move on Grok for 77 rubles.
- If you like the result and 720p is enough (for stories, say), you can stop there.
- If you need 1080p and more refinement, move the debugged prompt to Veo, Kling or Seedance.

About moderation
Like other models, Grok Imagine has content filters, and policies differ between developers. If one model refuses a generation, another may accept the same request.
