What Flux.2 is
Flux is a line of models from the Black Forest Labs studio, which specialises in image generation. If you describe the line’s character in one word, it is photorealism.
People pick Flux when they need a picture that looks like a real photograph: realistic skin, believable light, correct material texture. The main mode is generation from scratch based on a text description.
Two versions
| Version | Price per image | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Flux.2 Pro | 4 tokens (~6 rubles) | the workhorse, excellent realism at a low price |
| Flux.2 Max | 8 tokens (~13 rubles) | the senior version, maximum quality |
This is not a public offer. KADR prices, October 2026.
Worth noting: Flux.2 Pro is one of the cheapest image models in the catalog, full stop. Four tokens per image is less than most. And its realism is strong. That makes Pro an excellent choice for volume: when you need a lot of realistic pictures cheaply.
Max costs twice as much but is still cheap (13 rubles), and people take it for important shots where maximum detail matters. The price difference is small, so for an important image it makes sense to go straight to Max.
Where Flux beats the competition
The three main image models have different roles, and understanding that saves time:
- Flux.2 is photorealism from scratch. A realistic picture from a description.
- Nano Banana Pro is editing an existing photo while keeping the face.
- GPT-5 Image is understanding a complex description and text.
The practical takeaway: if you have a text idea and need a realistic picture from a blank page, that is Flux. If you have a finished photo that needs changing, that is Nano Banana. If the prompt is complex and wordy, GPT-5 Image.
They are often combined: Flux creates a realistic base image, and Nano Banana Pro then refines the details. Editing is covered in detail in the Nano Banana Pro review.
About artefacts
Flux does realistic people well, but it obeys the general law of all generative models: complex hands, small text and repeating details sometimes break. This is not a Flux bug in particular, it is the nature of the technology.
The cure is the same as everywhere: keep hands out of focus, regenerate the problem area with inpainting, do not overcomplicate the description of the hands. The full breakdown is in the article on why AI draws bad hands.
Who it suits
Suits: anyone who needs a realistic picture from scratch, especially at volume: photorealistic people, product shots, scenes, backgrounds. Pro at 6 rubles is a very good deal for mass generation.
Not the main choice: for editing existing photos (that is Nano Banana Pro) and for images with complex Russian text.
In short
Flux.2 from Black Forest Labs is about photorealism from scratch. Two versions: Pro at 6 rubles as the cheap workhorse and Max at 13 rubles for maximum quality. Pick Flux when you need a convincing realistic picture from a description, and use Nano Banana Pro for editing existing photos. They often work together.
