What Seedance 2.0 is
Seedance is ByteDance’s line of video models, from the same company behind TikTok. That is its DNA: the model is tuned for good-looking, dynamic, watchable video rather than dry technical precision.
Version 2.0 is the current flagship of the line. It does the two things that matter most for video: it holds a cinematic picture and keeps stability between frames, meaning the character and the setting do not fall apart as the clip goes on. It works in text-to-video mode (video from a description) and image-to-video mode (animating a picture).
Key capabilities
Resolution up to 1080p. Solid detail for most tasks. Drafts are convenient to run at 480p, where generation is several times cheaper, with the final done at 1080p.
Segments up to 15 seconds. An underrated advantage. Most models generate 5 to 8 seconds, while Seedance holds up to 15. The longer the segment, the fewer seams you need per minute of finished video, and every seam is a place where something can go wrong. For even longer scenes the line has Seedance 2.5 with segments up to 30 seconds.
Stable character. The model remembers the hero well within a clip and accepts several references at once, which helps keep one character across a series of scenes. There is a separate article on character consistency.
Dynamics and motion. The line’s strong suit. Action, sport, camera movement: Seedance handles them confidently.
The main limitation
It needs saying plainly because it will save you money and nerves: Seedance 2.0 is not meant for photos of real people. This is stated in the model’s own description.
What that means in practice: if you try to animate a real person’s photo or make a talking avatar from a picture of an employee, you will hit the moderation filter and get a refusal. The reason is protection against deepfakes.
What Seedance does handle perfectly well: objects, products, animals, landscapes, abstraction, cartoon and generated characters. Everything except real living faces.
If you specifically need to animate a photo of a person, look at Veo or Kling, which have different policies. More on model refusals in the article on animating a photo.
Versions in the line
KADR has four Seedance models, and they solve different problems.
| Version | Price for 6 s, 1080p | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2.5 | 537 tokens (~849 rub.) | newest, long scenes up to 30 seconds |
| Seedance 2.0 | 362 tokens (~572 rub.) | flagship, maximum quality, final takes |
| Seedance 2.0 Fast | no 1080p; 720p 109 tokens (~172 rub.) | quicker and cheaper, drafts and volume |
| Seedance 1.5 Pro | 86 tokens (~136 rub.) | previous generation, simple scenes, the cheapest |
This is not a public offer. KADR prices, October 2026.
The practical routine: 1.5 Pro for drafts and simple clips, 2.0 for the final, 2.0 Fast as a compromise when you need volume at decent quality, and 2.5 when a scene has to run longer than fifteen seconds.
What it really costs
The price depends heavily on resolution. The same 6-second clip on Seedance 2.0:
| Resolution | Tokens | Price, rub. |
|---|---|---|
| 480p | 69 | 109 |
| 1080p | 362 | 572 |
More than a fivefold difference. Hence the main money-saving advice: tune the prompt and motion at 480p, where generation costs next to nothing, and render only the final, debugged version at 1080p.
The full per-minute cost for every model is in the article on how much a minute of AI video costs.
Who Seedance 2.0 is for, and who it is not
Good for: animation and ads that need a stable hero; long scenes where 15-second segments matter; dynamics and camera movement; work with products and objects.
Not for: animating real photos of people or talking avatars made from real faces. You will hit the filter.
Debatable: if you need things fast and in volume and quality is secondary, 2.0 Fast or 1.5 Pro is cheaper, and the flagship can be saved for the important shots.

In short
Seedance 2.0 is a strong video flagship: cinematic quality at 1080p, a stable character, long segments up to 15 seconds, confident dynamics. Ideal for animation, ads and single-hero clips.
The main thing to remember: it is not for real faces. For everything else it is one of the best models on the market, and pay-per-use lets you run drafts at 480p for pennies and switch to expensive quality only for the final.
